Thanks to its large student population and strong café culture, Brno has one of the most vibrant brunch scenes in the Czech Republic. A few places appear on almost every local recommendation list, and for good reason.
If you are staying at Hotel Dialogue (or nearby), you do not need to go far – Gallina Bistro on the ground floor of the building starts the day in true Italian style: specialty coffee, fresh pastries from its own bakery, and a seasonal breakfast menu.
Other highly recommended breakfast spots in Brno include:
Bavard Café on Poštovská has established itself as one of the best places for Eggs Benedict in Brno. Versions with salmon, ham, or avocado are served on toasted bread, with eggs remaining the main focus of the menu.
Café Placzek on Minoritská is spread across two floors and, in addition to classic Eggs Benedict, offers a broader breakfast menu with baked bread, hummus, and seasonal combinations. A great choice for couples as well as business breakfasts.
SKØG Urban Hub is a Scandinavian-inspired café and bistro with a daily changing menu, a strong vegan selection, and specialty coffee. If you are looking for a good place to eat in Brno with vegetarian or vegan options, this is one of the first places to consider.
Eggo Bistro on Dvořákova builds its entire menu around eggs – poached, scrambled, Eggs Benedict variations, and omelettes. If you care more about quality and a generous portion than dieting in the morning, this is an obvious choice.
Café Momenta on Zelný trh combines two concepts – a café with a strong pastry and dessert selection, created by a pastry chef who gained experience in Belgium, and a bistro with a breakfast menu.
Cafe Mitte on Panská is one of Brno’s best-rated cafés. A more intimate space, excellent coffee, and a simple breakfast menu make it ideal for anyone looking for quality without the crowds.
Podnik Café & Bar is open from morning until night. In the morning, you can enjoy breakfast and specialty coffee, during the day there is a lunch menu, and in the evening it turns into a place for drinks. A stylish choice for a weekend brunch.
Café Podnebí below Špilberk Castle is one of the hidden gems of Brno’s brunch scene. It has a garden overlooking the castle park, daily changing soups, breakfast served until 1:00 p.m. on weekdays, and pancakes as well.
TIP: Brunch spots in central Brno fill up quickly at weekends. If you have a specific place in mind, especially Bavard or Placzek, book a table at least one day in advance.

Lunch menus are a strong part of Brno’s food scene. You can usually expect to pay around CZK 169–199, including soup, and many restaurants serve their lunch menu only until 3 p.m.
Stopkova Plzeňská Pivnice on Česká Street is one of Brno’s culinary institutions. It has been operating since 1897, and the building itself is protected as a cultural monument. Its lunch menu combines Czech classics with traditional pub-style dishes, all accompanied by carefully poured Pilsner beer.
Hostinec U Semináru on Veveří is one of the best places in Brno for a combination of traditional Czech cuisine, good prices, and atmosphere. The food is inspired by Austro-Hungarian cuisine, Pilsner is served straight from the tank, and you can choose from both the lunch menu and seasonal dishes.
Lokál U Caipla, part of the Ambiente restaurant group, focuses on fresh ingredients and classic Czech cuisine in a modern setting. Soups, roast pork with dumplings and sauerkraut, schnitzels, or svíčková are all prepared to a consistently high standard.
Atelier Bar & Bistro at Kobližná 2 is the only restaurant in Brno awarded a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide Czechia 2025 and 2026 — an award recognising excellent food at reasonable prices. Its lunch menu is usually creative, but without unnecessary complexity.

If you are looking for the kind of meal where you can sit back and take your time, Brno has several long-established restaurants that are well worth dedicating an entire evening to.
Borgo Agnese on Kopečná Street has long been one of Brno’s highest-rated restaurants. According to the Gault&Millau guide, it has been awarded three chef’s hats, making it the only restaurant in Brno with this rating. The cuisine is based on Mediterranean ingredients, with a strong focus on seasonality and in-house preparation. The restaurant has been operating since 2008, and the prices reflect the quality.
Pavillon Steak House is located in a Functionalist building in Koliště Park and specialises in beef from different parts of the world, including US Prime Beef, Uruguayan rib eye, and Japanese A5+ Wagyu. The restaurant also offers an impressive architectural setting with an open kitchen.
Vittorio Restaurant is one of the highest-rated Italian restaurants in Brno. Its cuisine is based on Northern Italian classics, with careful attention paid to pasta, fish, and seasonal ingredients. The more intimate setting works equally well for a romantic dinner or a business meeting for two.
Valoria is an experience-focused restaurant specialising in international cuisine with a strong emphasis on service. In 2025, it received a Bib Gourmand distinction in the Michelin Guide, placing it among the leading restaurants in the region.
Element Bar & Restaurant on Běhounská combines fine dining with a cocktail bar. Since December 2025, the restaurant has been included among the recommended restaurants in the Michelin Guide Czechia. Dishes are served in the middle of the table for sharing, making it ideal for couples and smaller groups who want to taste several dishes together.
Madama Cristina on Gorkého Street is one of the most interesting recent additions to Brno’s food scene. It offers Italian-Mediterranean cuisine based on seasonal ingredients, an all-day concept from breakfast to dinner, as well as quality cocktails and wines. The interior is reminiscent of contemporary Copenhagen bistros.
Decca Bulla on Kopečná operates as a wine bar with its own kitchen. It specialises in sparkling and semi-sparkling wines and offers more than 200 wines by the glass, which is unique in the Czech Republic. The menu changes once a month and features ten seasonal dishes.
Bistro Gallina at Dialogue naturally deserves a mention as well. The seasonal menu at our hotel restaurant is inspired by Italian cuisine and led by a Czech-Italian chef, complemented by a selection of wines from the hotel’s own wine room in the cellar. An intimate setting, with wine pairing available on request.
TIP: We recommend booking dinner at these restaurants at least 3–7 days in advance. For weekends and during the tourist season, it is better to book even earlier.

GO Brno is one of the city’s most highly regarded Vietnamese restaurants, offering authentic cuisine including pho, bún, and banh mi.
TOPPU Ramen is one of the best-rated ramen spots in Brno and received a Gault&Millau POP award in 2026. Its tonkotsu, miso, and shoyu ramen are at a level you might normally expect to find abroad.
DIANDI at náměstí Svobody 20 combines Vietnamese cuisine and sushi in a modern interior. Located right in the city centre, it offers reasonable prices and high quality for such a prime location.
Domovina is a family-run restaurant serving authentic Vietnamese cuisine, including banh mi made with meat from its own smoker. If you are looking for a quick lunch with genuine Vietnamese flavours, it is an excellent choice.
Ramen Brno is a go-to address if you are in the mood for Japanese noodle soup. Expect authentic tonkotsu, miso, and shoyu broths.
MANYA Sushi & Sake Izakaya on Průchodní is Brno’s take on Japanese izakaya culture. Dishes are designed for sharing and served on traditional ceramics, with Japanese sake, sushi, duck or vegan gyoza, and rafute pork belly on the menu. Its retro-maximalist interior makes it a great choice for group dinners.

If you are looking for healthy places to eat in Brno, the city keeps up well with the growing trend of plant-based and vegetarian concepts.
Soul Bistro combines brunch, light lunches, and dinners with a focus on seasonal ingredients. The menu includes meat, vegetarian, and vegan options, and it is one of those places where healthy food is not treated as a compromise, but as the main gastronomic concept.
VEGALITE focuses on tasty and healthy vegetarian and vegan food in a modern setting. Bowls, salads, soups, and seasonal specials make it a good choice for both business lunches and lighter dinners.
Dhaba Beas serves Indian vegetarian cuisine with vegan options, including curries, dhals, and flatbreads. Food is priced by weight, which makes it a popular choice for a quick lunch.
For a special evening, we recommend Bistro Gallina, Borgo Agnese, Vittorio, Element, Decca Bulla, or Pavillon Steak House.
GO Brno, DIANDI, Domovina, TOPPU Ramen, MANYA, and Ramen Brno cover Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, and fusion cuisine.
Soul Bistro, VEGALITE, or Dhaba Beas. For brunch with plant-based options, try SKØG Urban Hub or Podnik.
For Borgo Agnese, Vittorio, Element, Decca Bulla, and Pavillon Steak House, almost always. We also recommend booking weekend brunches in advance, especially at Bavard, Placzek, and Podnik. For regular lunch menus, reservations are usually not necessary.
